Kyle Hillbrand is a composer and performer currently residing in New York City. In 2007, he received a Bachelor's of Music in composition from the Manhattan School of Music and was the recipient of the Gabe M. Wiener Foundation Organ Composition Prize. His works have been performed around the US and Europe, including New York City, Louisville, Boston, San Francisco, Berlin, and the Czech Republic. Kyle has attended the
Darmstadt New Music Festival in Germany,
Ostrava Days in the Czech Republic, and the Open Minds Festival in San Francisco. Former teachers include Nils Vigeland, Reiko Füting, and Justin Dello Joio. He has also taken lessons with Walter Zimmerman, Christian Wolff, Chaya Czernowin, and Alvin Lucier, among others. Currently, Kyle works with Red Light New Music, a new music composer collective and ensemble, and performs in various bands around New York City.
